Pakistan government on 14 August 2012 honoured Urdu author, Gopi
Chand Narang with sitara-i-Imtiaz, the third highest civilian honour
given by the nation. In the past, former Prime Minister Morarji Desai
and matinee idol Dilip Kumar were bestowed Pakistan's highest civilian
honour, Nishan-i-Imtiaz. The award will be given to Gopi Chand Narang in
Pakistan on 23 March, 2013, Pakistan's Republic Day.
Gopi Chand Narang was born on 11 February, 1931, in Dukki, Pakistan.
He is an Indian scholar of Urdu language and literature, an eminent Urdu
writer, scholar, critic and linguist. He is author of many books in
Urdu, Hindi and English.
