Prof Upadhyayulu Satyanarayana Murty, chief scientist and head, Biology division of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad has won the ICMR prize for Biomedical Research Conducted in Under Developed Areas for the year 2010.Dr Murthy has been conferred with the award for his contribution in the area of Integrated Control of Vectors and Vector borne diseases like Malaria, Filariasis and Japanese Encephalitis in North Eastern states of India. The award carries a citation and cash prize of `20,000 to be presented by Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, in New Delhi.
