Carnatic vocalist Ranjani Hebbar Guruprasad died on 9 June 2013 in her hometown Udupi. She was suffering from cancer. She was only 31 years old. She was the daughter of Vasanthalakshmi and Aravinda Hebbar. She performed at many leading sabhas which include prize-winning performances at the Music Academy. Ranjani was also the recipient of honours such as the Kalki Award and Isai Chudar. She is survived by her husband, Guruprasad who is a software engineer.
