Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh (JSK), an autonomous body
under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, is
organising a National Conference for Population Action on 11th July,
2012 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. As part of JSK mandate for awareness
generation and advocacy efforts for Population Stabilisation, JSK has
been organising myriad of activities on the World Population Day over
the past few years to build an enabling environment for population
stabilization.
The Conference aims to reposition family planning especially in high
priority states for improved maternal and child health outcomes &
well-being of family in addition to population stabilization for
sustainable development. The Conference also aims to build partnerships
& linkages of JSK with varied stakeholders for achieving the goal
of population stabilization.
The programme at the conference will include activities ranging from
technical and research-based presentations to related exhibitions, media
workshop and sensitization meeting with elected representatives. The
Conference would include sessions on: Priorities and New Agenda for
Population Stabilisation; Action for Population Stabilisation –
Inclusion of Population in all Policies; Getting the Media excited on
Population Stabilisation; Building commitment and Focused Sensitization
Meeting – Fostering Political Commitment and Engagement.
JSK has been set up on the recommendation of the National Population
Commission to make population stabilization a movement of the people.
It promotes family welfare & advocacy of population stabilization in
active collaboration with civil society, NGOs, corporate sectors of the
country.
