The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who reached Russia on Sunday for attending the 14th India-Russian Annual Summit, is expected to sign five important agreements between the two countries along with his Russian counterpart. However, the much talked about Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) deal is unlikely to be signed as legal hitches appear to have cropped up over the liability law, five other crucial agreements are expected to be signed.
Programme of cooperation in the field of bio-technology, MoU between Bureau of Energy Efficiency of India and Russian Energy Agency, and another MoU in the field of standardization and conformity assessment between Bureau of Indian Standards and Russian Metrology agency will be signed during the summit.
The Agreements also include one on Transfer of Sentenced Persons that will facilitate the process of social rehabilitation of sentenced persons of the other country by providing the opportunity to serve their sentences in their country under certain conditions.
