P.V. Sindu, the ace shuttler, and Virat Kohli, the dashing Indian cricketer, has been given the Arjuna Award, among others, in recognition of his contribution to sport, by the Government of India. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) had nominated Kohli's name to the Sports Ministry in April this year. Along with Kohli, rising badminton player P.V. Sindhu, who created history by winning a bronze medal in the recently concluded at Badminton World Championships 2013, has also bagged the award. The highest sporting honour in the country, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, went to ace shooter Ronjan Sodhi. The national sports awards will be held in New Delhi on August 29. The winners will receive a statuette, a citation and a cash prize of Rs.5 lakh.
