Time, CNN suspended Fareed Zakaria for Plagiarism

Noted Indian-American journalist Fareed Zakaria was suspended by Time Magazine and CNN as their columnist and show host after he confessed the charges of plagiarism. Zakaria was accused of copying sections of his column the case for gun control in the 20 August 2012 issue of Time.
Some passages written by Zakaria in his column on gun control found stark similarity to those written by historian Jill Lepore on the same issue, which appeared in the 23 April 2012 issue of The New Yorker.  The similarities in the texts were spotted by the conservative Web site NewsBusters, and quickly spread across the Internet after appearing on the media blog JimRomenesko.com.
Born on 20 January 1964 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Fareed Zakaria obtained his Bachelors degree in Arts from Yale University. Later he received Doctorate in Political Science from Harvard University in 1993. In a career spanning more than two decades in journalism, Zakaria worked with numerous global media organizations such as News Week, Time, CNN.
