Empowered Group of Ministers decided to invest Rs. 425 crore for Gujarat Drought Relief

Union Government decided to invest Rs. 425 crore for Gujarat Drought Relief on 3 August 2012. The decision took in the meeting with the Chief Minister of Gujarat. It was headed by the Union Agriculture Minister and Rural Development Minister.

The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) was also agreed to consider the demand of the state to extend the employment opportunities for the state under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), 2005.

The Chief Minister of Gujarat decided to leave 30 percent draught relief funds spent by State government.
