India-Japan Relation
- Japan inks pact for Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project (DMIC).
- Rs. 3.6 lakh Crore
- New Delhi & Tokyo signed two Pacts, including Collaboration in developing & Promoting eco-cities around the project. (Smart communities).
- The Japan Bank of International Cooperation also signed a loan agreement totalling upto USD 75 million (Rs 330 Crore) with India ,Infrastructure Finance to prepare plan for overall DMIC region & developing plans for investment-in phase -1st.
- The DMIC Project Development Fund is envisaged to be set up with equal Contribution from India and Japan.
- The Centre has already approved a grant of Rs 330 Crore towards this.
- Japanese pm Yukio Hatoyama.
- This shows that both the Countries are committed to take forward the bilateral cooperation & further accelerate economic engagements.
- The DMIC is planned to promote integrated development of Industry and Infrastructure in a band of 150-200km on the either side of the Dedicated Railway Freight Corridor between Delhi & Mumbai, over a length of about 1,500km
- The Delhi-Mumbai Dedicated Railway Freight Corridor is also being post-founded by Japanese Govt.
- The agreement would help DMIC to establish eco-friendly township & Industrial Zones by adopting global best practises

Government Plans Schemes For Free Treatment Of Road- Accident Victims
- The Govt. is planning to introduce a scheme to fund the medical treatment of victims of road accidents for the first 48 hours through insurance Companies or budgetary Support.
- Free-treatment scheme will be rolled out,
- Flag off pilot projects, Mumbai-Pune Expressway is a good option.

Govt. introduces Maharastra states for top PSUS.
The Govt has approved bestowing the (Maharastra) Status enchanced autonomy to the PSUS which have a three year track record of annual turnover of Rs 25,000 crore & net profit of Rs 5,000 Crore.
The govt. on Thursday transferred state-owned Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. From the Shipping to the Defence Ministry to meet the Country’s Security Needs.
In India - ASEAN talks on services trade from 12th Jan 2010.
- India has lined up a series of meetings with the ASEAN members over the next seven months to reach a deal on opening up services trade, after opening up services trade, after opening up of merchandise trade.
- Two rounds of Negotiations have already taken place in this regard.
- India signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Association of southeast Nations (Asean) in Aug; which will come into effect from 1st January, 2010 and is committed to begin breaking duty barriers on goods.
- Brunei, Combodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand & Vietnam are the 10 Members of the the Asean,
- India has an observer status in the bloc.
- All Complaints received by police stations should be treated as FIRS- The Home Ministry has decided to issue a circular to all states.
