The second meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee on the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) was held on 1 July 2013.
The idea behind conducting the meeting is to review the progress of implementation of NeGP.
It is important here to note that the NeGP was approved by Government of India in May 2006 with an aim to Make all Government services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common service delivery outlets and also to ensure efficiency, transparency & reliability of such services at an affordable cost.
Two expert group were constituted in the last meeting of the committee one headed by Nandan Nilekani on Preparation of HR Policy for e-governance and other headed by Sam Pitroda on Expert Group on NeGP.
During the meeting the implementation of the recommendations of these committees was reviewed as the recommendations of both the committees is highly beneficial for fast tracking the implementation of all e-Governance initiatives in the country.
